Halloween Party
I wanted to take a break from my daily week in the life posts to post about the Halloween Party we had last Saturday. I'm very glad that Hannah had the idea and asked if we could do a party. I'm not usually much of an entertainer--planning parties stresses me out, but this was a lot of fun, and I'm thinking it might be an annual event. There ended up being about 15 kids with our friends, the Davisons and Goves, cousins, Katelyn, Ashley, Caden and Collin (not that they're not friends too) and neighbors, Ashley, Lindsey, Braiden and Ellie. I had a craft for the kids to work on and made some spooky treats--by far the spookiest being the witch's fingers that I made. They were actually shortbread and very good but I think people were afraid to eat them. We also had eyeball cupcakes, marshmallow/white chocolate ghosts, pumpkin muffins, pigs in a blanket and toxic green punch with a gummy worm ice ring. We played a couple games--one that didn't go so well and one that was very fun. I printed out tombstones and taped them all over the family room floor and the kids played musical tombstones. We also had a costume contest and chose winners for the most original, scariest, funniest and best costumes. I needed to have another game because we ended up with about 30 minutes with nothing to do, but the kids kept themselves entertained. Hannah and Justin said after that it was the best Halloween party ever. I'm glad that we could give them a party and bring them such joy. Here are some photos from the party. Check out those spooky fingers. Oh and by the way, there wasn't much talk about Owen at the party. He didn't really participate. He would not put on his costume as I had suspected. In fact, he ran down the hall yelling "I said no!" which is one of his new oft used phrases. He pretty much paid no attention to the party. We'll see what happens on Halloween.
